A "European Conversation on Cultural Difference".

As part of a long-term research project, we have been able to establish a ‘think tank’ within the specific context of Britain that is both similar and different from that of many other European cultures. Through the ‘European Conversation’ we have been able to expand this thinking into other contexts and practices and to establish a ‘laboratory’ situation in which colleagues can bring their problematics and discuss them at length in the context of an already existing body of knowledge, theoretical analysis, multiple artistic and curatorial practices. Within this ‘laboratory’ we are seeking to establish both continuity and the ability to respond to members’ proposed issues.

The inaugural meeting of the ‘European Conversation’ was held in May 2002, at Goldsmiths, College, London. The next meeting of the European Conversation is scheduled for Spring 2005.
