IT Services: IT Skills & Training
Training Resources
IT Services provides a range of printed and online workbooks covering the main software applications used in the College. The College Library also has many manuals and tutorial books for computer software.
IT Skills for Staff
IT Services provide a range of support for staff who wish to develop their IT skills. In addition to the training resources, there are courses for staff covering basic skills in the main software applications used in the College, and the possibility of setting up dedicated training sessions for departmental groups or individual staff. Where staff training needs cannot be met within College, there are special arrangements for external training.
IT Skills for Research Students
Most of the IT Services courses for staff are also open to Research Students. In addition, IT Services contributes sessions devoted to IT skills and awareness to the Research Methods course run for first year Research Students by the Research Office.
Taught-course Students
Developing the IT skills of undergraduates and other taught-course students is the responsibility of the academic departments, and IT Services do not routinely conduct training for students. All student queries about IT training should be addressed to their academic department rather than IT Services.
Computer-Based Teaching Facilities
IT Services provides four Computer Teaching Rooms in the RB, which can be booked by departments running computer-based classes.
Other Resources in College
- CELT organizes workshops relating to the use of IT in teaching and learning.
- The College's Virtual Learning Environment includes on-line resources relating to IT skills.
