Media Services

Media Services is composed of two units within the IT Services department. The Media Equipment Centre and its staff in the Richard Hoggart Building, Room 181, is responsible for the video and data presentation equipment installed in College general teaching rooms, holds a Loan Collection of portable AV equipment and gives advice on how to use this equipment.

The new Digital Media Suite on the ground floor of the Rutherford Building provides facilities (and assistance if required) with many media copying tasks (e.g. from DVD to DVD, from Mini-DV to DVD, from VHS to DVD, etc.) and has ten Apple Macintosh digital video editing suites utilising Final Cut Pro. Two acoustic booths are also available in the suite for audio and post-production testing of video projects. Occasional training sessions are also held on the use of high-end video recording equipment such as HD video cameras. It also retains one legacy 'Casablanca' system.
