Welcome to Goldfish – a showcase introducing a fresh wave of new writers. Here you’ll find an exciting diversity of voices, styles and genres from 40 authors. There’s writing from 14 men and 26 women – ranging in age from early twenties to late sixties. They come from a rich mix of backgrounds and experience, from the UK, Ireland and the USA, and from a variety of employment bases (including theatre, music, journalism, education, the construction industry and the voluntary sector). Goldfish writers are united by a single factor: they’re all studying on and inspired by the MA in Creative and Life Writing at Goldsmiths. These writers are working with novelists, life writers and poets (Maura Dooley, Romesh Gunesekera, Pamela Johnson, Stephen Knight, Blake Morrison, Eva Salzman, Richard Skinner, Francis Spufford, and Ardashir Vakil) and attending seminars by writers, such as Aminatta Forna, Lavinia Greenlaw, Tobias Hill, Jackie Kay and Ali Smith. While most Goldfish writers produce a range of work, here they were asked to submit just one piece. They chose one category for their submission: In the range of writing there is beauty, humour, sadness, joy, intimacy, childhood memories, political thought and poignancy. So dive in - and enjoy swimming with the Goldfish! Writers’ email addresses are given with their biographies - for more information or for you to give authors feedback about their work. |
