Commonwealth Writers' Prize panel discussion
'Reading in crisis: do people read books in the internet
era?’
The panel
will discuss recent trends in reading habits worldwide and what the consequences
might mean for the future of writers, cultures and literacy.

5.30-7.00pm: Panel Discussion
7.00-9.00pm: 2008 Commonwealth Writers' Prize (CWP), Presentation of the
Europe and South Asia regional winners. Wine and canapés reception.
The panel will be chaired by Dr Joan Anim-Addo, Director of the the
Centre for Caribbean Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Donna Daley-Clarke, author, 2008 Commonwealth Writers' Prize
(CWP) judge and winner of the 2006 CWP Europe and South Asia Best First
Book award for Lazy Eye; Lee Langley, author and winner of the 1993 CWP
Europe and South Asia Best Book award for Persistent Rumours; Marion Molteno,
author and winner of 1999 CWP Africa award for If You Can Walk, You Can
Dance; Professor Angela Smith, 2006/7 CWP Europe and South Asia regional
chairperson.
The event is being run as part of the outreach and education initiatives for the 2008 Commonwealth Writers' Prize (CWP). The Prize is funded by the Commonwealth Foundation with the support of the Macquarie Group Foundation across all four regions. |
