Goldsmiths one of UK’s top five coolest brands
Published: 29 September 2004 16:00

Goldsmiths College, University of London, is one of the top five coolest brands in the country according to Superbrands, the leading authority on branding. Over 60 brands received the coveted Cool BrandLeaders status. Others in the top five include Selfridges, Dazed & Confused magazine, Agent Provocateur and Hakkasan.

Goldsmiths receives the accolade of Cool BrandLeader for the third consecutive year (since the awards began). The only university to be included in the list, Goldsmiths has defined artistic movements for generations and is regarded by many as the most innovative university for the arts in Europe. Numerous well-known individuals - from Mary Quant to Damien Hirst - have flourished as a result of their Goldsmiths experience.

Stephen Cheliotis, Superbrands Brand Liaison Director, says: “The five rules of cool are originality, innovation, authenticity, a sense of style and being unique. Goldsmiths College is a leading cool brand that not only is cool in itself, but helps to shape the future of cool. With a really unique, strong and desirable reputation, the achievements of the College and its graduates speak for itself”.

Information about Goldsmiths, and all the brands nominated is detailed in the Cool BrandLeaders book, available from selected retailers or through the Superbrands website (see below).
