The AIkon research project from the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths, University of London is set to be shown at this year’s Kinetica Art Fair.
The AIkon (Autonomous/Artistic/IKONograph) Project uses computational techniques to examine the activity of drawing - in particular sketching the human face - and is co-ordinated by Professor of Computing at Goldsmiths, Frederic Fol Leymarie and researcher and artist Patrick Tresset.
The Project has received funding from the Leverhulme Trust to carry out work until the end of 2011, and could eventually result in AIkon ‘learning’ to draw in its own style.
The project is now set to be showcased at this year’s Kinetica Art Fair alongside work by other leading contemporary arts organisations and artists specialising in kinetic, electronic, robotic, light, sound, time-based and interdisciplinary new media art.
Last year’s inaugural fair attracted more than 9,000 visitors and increased the importance and value of kinetic, electronic and new media art on a global level as well as in the mainstream arts press.
The AIkon Project is one of more than 150 exhibits which will be shown at the Fair which is taking place from Thursday 4 until Sunday 7 February at P3, the 14,000 sq ft multi-disciplinary arts venue in Marylebone.
