SHORT NIGHTS AT SOUTHWARK PLAYHOUSE
Short Nights are a group of writers, performers and practitioners from
Goldsmiths. On Sunday 30th November the Short Nights company return to the Southwark
Playhouse with HOWL AT THE MOON... a festival of new writing, drama and
performance art. Inspired by the weird and the wonderful, the dark and the
dazzling, Short Nights will present seven new plays: ANTS, THE CAPTAIN,
ZOMBIE BRIDE, SLOW BURNING, MRS MARTIN GOT MUGGED, PICNIC AND XXXX, all
written, directed and performed by company members. On top of this, in the
bar we host short films, installation, DJ's, drinking and fun.
Whilst lots
of young theatre practitioners are seeking to reinvigorate traditional
theatrical conventions with nightclub performance art and the like, Short
Nights sodomises classical performance by using and abusing it; our new
plays are fast paced, comic, politically charged and about our time. We
stage plays in a bar environment. Short Nights is spectacle at it's best.
Expect a gory feast of cross-dressing, city bankers, cannibalism, live cake
eating, stories from grandmother wolf and much more.
£6 to see everything.
02074070234 or www.southwarkplayhouse.co.uk to book, or simply swing by on
the day before 7pm. Fanciful dress optional.
