Welcome to STCI Research Group

Social technology & Cultural interfaces is part of the Art and Computational Technologies Research Program in the Digital Studios at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

The aim of the research group is to seek interdisciplinary approaches to art by combining cultural discourses with new technologies.

Our research interest is how new technologies have been changing the human perception of spaces and its cultural boundaries. Technology - mediated interface under the post-human condition has given new ways of interaction and has also given rise to questions about communication and human condition with surroundings. Interface is not just a communication route between different entities but also a determiner of condition of the entities. The integration influences on how art form could take its new status with its contents and also artist and audience would be altered in terms of their relations through technology - mediated interface. Technology as a socio-cultural form is explored in the art context to examine its significance in the post-human condition.

We are part of the ATCAD Performa Space, a parnership between the University of Cambridge Digital Studios and Goldsmiths Digital Studios and also collaborating with Hexagram, a multi-disciplinary research institute based in Montreal, Canada.

We are funded by the Arts Council England with the support of FACT to develop our reseach project.
