Goldsmiths Winter Workshop in Economic Sociology

Goldsmiths has invited doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from around the world to participate in a three-day workshop exploring themes in economic sociology and cultural economy, overseen by Professor David Stark of Columbia University, held in conjunction with the Performance Conference on the 14 January.
The workshop will explore methodological and theoretical aspects of economic sociology in light of the latest cultural, moral and technological approaches to the field, incorporating 'master classes' with Stark, Daniel Beunza, Scott Lash and Peter Miller.
The workshop’s interactive sessions will provide opportunities for attendees to present and discuss each other's work, in a collaborative and supportive environment, with a focus on innovative methodological and theoretical approaches in economic sociology.
The workshop aims to explore some of the following themes:
- 'Worth', 'justification' and accounting
- The politics of expertise
- Technological and cultural approaches to market and management devices
- 'Cultural political economy'
- Risk and uncertainty
